We’ve got a great weekend on the west side ahead of us. New flavors of the month, some great events, and some interesting updates.

Let’s get into this week’s Anthem 👇

The Anthem is made possible in part by El Tesoro West End & South Downtown, a neighborhood treasure serving good quality food at reasonable prices. See the menu here.

🌮 El Tesoro holds down West Atlanta from both South Downtown and the West End, and their happy hour is a gift: weekdays 3-6pm with $3 bites, $5 plates, and a $7 Michelob Ultra + tequila shorty.

🥪 Doctor's orders: The Grove slapped Dr. Robot jam on two dishes that expire after August. The Charcuterie Sandwich piles salami, prosciutto, and ricotta on ciabatta, and the Dr. Robot Dunkers are cinnamon-sugar pretzel bites with cream cheese icing.

🍔 Smorgasburg is taking a summer breather and comes back Saturday, September 12 for its Fall Reopening, with a fresh season of food vendors, cold drinks, and live entertainment in South Downtown.

🥢 Some days call for a burger, some days a poke bowl. Bottle Rocket would rather you take the break in South Downtown than eat at your desk again.

🍹 Bar Incognito keeps the cocktails coming, this time a Paloma with range built on Patrón Silver, Ilegal mezcal, hibiscus, and grapefruit. Can't keep up with these, but we're tryin'. -Connor

🍗 Okaay Chicken just opened inside Terminal South's Switchman Hall, and the menu goes wide: Seoul-style tenders and wings, boneless thigh nuggets, fried rice, and shrimp and crawfish étouffée.

📬 Sammy's in Adair Park set out a suggestion box that's open to questions, suggestions, art, confessions, secrets, and hot takes. Once a month they'll read the drop-ins aloud online.

🍕 Sweet, smoky, spicy: Westside Pizza's August Pizza of the Month stacks crispy fried chicken and hot honey on a habanero bacon jam base with mozzarella and pimento cheese. Available all August.

🌭 Pepper's Hotdogs turned Sunday dinner into a hotdog. The August Hotdog of the Month, The Sunday Supper, piles on mac and cheese, fried chicken crumbs, cornbread, and hot honey. Available all August for Black Restaurant Week.

🥂 Boxcar is pouring weekend brunch and mimosas every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm at Lee + White in the West End.

🥪 Lucky Star's midweek lunch spread runs Wednesday through Friday, 11am to 3pm, in West Midtown. Come for the sandwich, stay for the coffee.

🍰 If you thought Ormsby's was just shots and skee-ball, think again: they've got dessert too, drizzled in caramel and chocolate and very much worth saving room for.

🇯🇲 Perfect Seasoning is now doing Sunday brunch at Terminal South, serving Jamaican comfort from ackee and saltfish to rum French toast and salmon croquettes. 11am until it's gone.

🍻 Hop City is staffing up: retail and bartending gigs, seasonal to full-time, at the West End and a new Upper Westside Market location. Bring beer, wine, and functional-beverage knowledge.

🏙️ South Downtown is entering a new phase. After more than 40,000 visitors flooded the neighborhood during Atlanta's World Cup run, the developers behind SoDo ATL are shifting from construction to attracting residents, aiming to turn the once-overlooked district into a 24/7 neighborhood. The restaurant owners who bet early say they're in it for the long haul.

📸 Your camera called: Muchacho wants creators to make weird little videos with them. Fun food, coffee, lifestyle, or Atlanta content all count. Apply via their bio.

🏗️ The Beltline-adjacent Westside Paper is filling up: Omma, a new cocktail and small-plates concept from the MidCity team, is close to opening, padel club Padel Haus is enclosing its courts for year-round play, and new office and showroom tenants keep signing on.
